Every child entering a New Jersey school is required to have a physical examination by a doctor. The state also requires proof from your doctor that the child has received certain immunizations before entering school. These requirements are 4 DPT, 4 Polio, and 2 MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), The last doses of DPT and Polio must have been given after the child's fourth birthday. In addition a varicella vaccine is required or documentation of having had the chicken pox and the hepatitis series must be completed. The full date - day, month, and year - is required for each immunization. New immunization requirements effective September, 2008 include pneumococcal and flu vaccines being required for pre-schoolers.
Children transferring in from out of state or out of the country may need a Mantoux test as well. Please speak to the nurse to see if this is required for your child.
SUBSTITUTE NURSES ARE ALWAYS NEEDED IN OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT!!
PLEASE CALL KRISTINE GONZALEZ IN THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OFFICE, AT 201-891-1856, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS REWARDING PROFESSION ON A PART-TIME BASIS!!!
